Update 1 – Detectives Investigating Fail to Remain Involving a Pedestrian in St.Catharines

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit working collaboratively with detectives assigned to 1 District (St.Catharines/Thorold), continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fail to remain that occurred on January 8, 2025 on Church Street near Calvin Street in the City of St.Catharines.

Detectives are appealing to the public with the following updated suspect vehicle information:

Suspect vehicle – 2011-2020 model year, grey Dodge Caravan with damage to the front passenger side and windshield damage. 

Suspect vehicle had a rear licence plate hanging from the rear wiper in a vinyl pouch.  The colour of the licence plate appeared to be yellow/orange with black text.  The licence plate (full or partial) was not able to be deciphered through canvassing of neighbouring surveillance videos. 

Suspect vehicle was last seen driving east bound on Davidson Street from Niagara Street, believed to have turned southbound on Page Street from Davidson Street.

The victim remains in hospital with serious injuries sustained from the incident.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at approximately 6:26pm, Niagara Regional Police Service responded to Church Street near Calvin Street in the City of St. Catharines for a collision involving a single motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police, St. Catharines Fire Department, and Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded and located an adult male suffering from life threatening injuries.  He was transported by Air ORNGE to an out of region hospital.  He is currently in stable condition. 

The driver of the motor vehicle failed to remain at the scene. 

The suspect vehicle is described as:

2008 or newer, dark coloured Dodge or Chrysler van with roof rails  There will be front end damage The vehicle will likely be missing a silver coloured, Dodge brand, plastic hub cap, that was located near the scene

Church Street, between Niagara Street and Queenston Street, was re-opened at approximately 2am.
