UPDATE 1 – Detectives investigating following St. Catharines homicide

Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit continue to investigate this incident.

Through their investigation, a suspect was identified and taken into custody.

28-year-old Keenan George of St. Catharines is facing the following charge:

–        2nd degree murder

George is currently being held in custody pending a video bail hearing on Friday July 1, 2022.

The victim, a 29-year-old male, and the suspect were known to each other. 

There is no information at this time to suggest that there is an on-going risk to public safety.

ORIGINAL RELEASE – JUNE 30, 2022

At approximately 9:30pm on Thursday June 30, 2022, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold uniform officers were called to the area of Old Pine Trail (Vine Street and Old Pine Trail) in the City of St. Catharines following the report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male with injuries and no vital signs. The male was pronounced deceased shortly after.

Currently, the investigation remains on-going by detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Homicide Unit.

There is no information at this time to suggest that there is an on-going risk to public safety.
