Wainfleet – On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at approximately 12:30 AM, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) was called to a Wainfleet address for a structure fire call.
Wainfleet Fire and Emergency Services were battling a blaze on Forks Road between Young’s Road N and Morog Road. NRPS assisted with road closures to allow for fire operations.
During the incident an adult male victim was located with significant burn injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
Firefighters discovered the body of a person inside the structure. The age and sex of the person is currently unknown.
The scene is being held by police for the Office of the Fire Marshall to attend and process the scene, with the assistance of the NRPS Forensic Services Unit (FSU).
The cause of the fire, along with the cause of death are yet to be determined. The roads have since been re-opened.
