Welland Detectives Investigating Vehicle Thefts

On September 26, 2025, uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) received 4 calls for service in Fonthill and Pelham regarding the targeted thefts and attempted thefts of Lexus and Toyota brand vehicles.  The thefts occurred during the early morning hours and targeted residential driveways.

Detectives from the 3 District Street Crime Unit have assumed carriage of the investigations.  In most cases, the suspects gained access to the vehicle by breaking the rear door glass which did not trigger the vehicle’s alarm system.  Over the last couple of weeks there have been 7 calls for service regarding thefts and attempted thefts of motor vehicles.

In many instances newer model Lexus SUV’s and Toyota brand vehicles (Tundra, Highlander, and Land Cruiser) are being targeted by criminal networks looking to profit from the theft and exportation of these vehicles.

Detectives are advising members of the public who own these brands of vehicles to consider aftermarket security measures and tracking devices to aid in theft deterrent.

A suspect photo has been released, and detectives are asking anyone who may recognize the person in the photo to contact them at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1023300.
