Welland Man Arrested for Robbing Pizza Delivery Driver

On February 1, 2022, at approximately 10:15PM 3 District Welland uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service received a call for an assault / robbery in the City of Welland.

Officers met with the victim, a male in his 30s who is employed as a pizza delivery driver in Welland.  The initial investigation determined that the driver had attended a residence in the area of Cady Street and Duncan Street to deliver two pizzas valued at $19.30.

When the driver arrived, a man exited the residence and punched him in the face.  The man took the pizzas and went back inside the residence without paying.  

The victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. 

Officers were able to identify a suspect.  Officers attended a Cady Street residence, and the suspect was located and arrested.  

Property belonging to the victim was recovered at the scene.

Joseph Edward Mills (35 years) of Welland has been arrested and charged with the criminal offences of:

Robbery – Section 344 (b) Criminal Code Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Section 733.1 Criminal Code

Mills was held in custody in order to attend a video bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on February 2, 2022.
