Friday, Aug. 14

Fri-YAY Trivia Night at Station 1 Coffeehouse

Star-gazing and dinner under the stars at Calamus

[One dinner sitting left for the Friday event Saturday night is SOLD OUT!] Did you know that Calamus Estate Winery, in Jordan Station, has a space observatory? It’s often mistaken for a silo on the side of a renovated barn. But inside it is Chronos Observatory, the home to a deep-space telescope that’s perfect for stargazing. Calamus will be hosting a dinner and star-gazing evening on August 14, 2020 and August 15, 2020 [SOLD OUT].

Rib night date night at Harbour Estates Winery

Locals seeking a romantic date night out with their sweetie can visit Harbour Estates Winery any Friday for Rib Night Date Night. Sit on the patio and enjoy fall-off-the-bone ribs with Harbour Estate’s famous Baco-infused BBQ sauce. The regular patio menu will also be available. Book in advance.

Saturday, Aug. 15

Tide & Vine dinner and wine experience at Fielding Estate Winery

Enjoy an gourmet lunch or dinner meal of wine and seafood in the Fielding Vineyard Lounge. Groups of up to four. Tide & Vine, a Niagara Falls based Oyster House & Restaurant specializing in seafood and dishes inspired by scratch cooking, will provide the meals. The menu includes wild gulf shrimps, lobster tail, snow crab clusters, and more. Premium Fielding Estate Wine is also included.

Flat Rock Cellars food truck visit 

Flat Rock Cellars will host a different food truck from 2pm to 5pm most saturdays in August. Visitors can walk-up and order, then grab a glass of wine to sip with their lunch or dinner meal.

Tagging Monarchs at EC Brown Wetland

The Tagging Monarchs event at EC Brown invites Niagara region residents to be scientists for a day. Butterflies are tagged to help scientists study the origins of the Monarchs that reach Mexico. By tagging monarchs scientists learn about migration patterns, mortality, how weather influences them and tracks changes to their migratory habits.

Event attendees get to do the initial capture and tag. This is the 29th season of the Monarch Watch Tagging Program. It’s free to join but participants must register for a ticket to save their spot. For more info and the link to register click here: Tagging Monarchs at EC Brown Wetland

Events running all weekend, Aug. 14-16

Jazz in the Creek in Stoney Creek

Jazz in the Creek is August 14-16 weekend in downtown Stoney Creek along King Street East. From 4-9 pm food trucks, vendors, and local businesses will line the downtown strip. Additionally, there will be a car show from 6-9 pm. Here is what attendees can expect:

  • Free entry and parking
  • Motorcycles and music social
  • Shops and patios open
  • Artisan vendors
  • Musical performances from George Kash and Mahima Akshinthala (Fri & Sat)

Summer patio season is in full swing

AROUND THE BENCH COMMUNITIES – The Bench is home to many breathtaking patios in scenic surroundings across Jordan Station, Beamsville, Vineland and Grimsby. Many of them sit on the grounds of palatial wineries with sprawling estates and spectacular views. They serve premium wines and have restaurants that offer farm-to-table fare. Tasting passport to six wineries

Cornerstone Winery, Calamus, London Born Wine Co., Sue Ann Staff Estate, Rockway, and Harbour Estates have come together to offer a wine passport. Each ticket includes a wine tour for two people at the six wineries. Guests will enjoy three tastings at each winery. There is also a VIP option which includes 1 bottle of wine per passport at each three of the wineries (wine chosen by winery).
