A heat warning is in effect for Grimsby, Lincoln and northern Niagara communities.

Environment Canada’s heat warning affects all Northern Niagara communities, including St Catharines and Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Those areas can expect a high of 31 C. It will feel like up to 39 C with the humidex.

On Tuesday, temperatures will decrease slightly.

People in the area are advised to take precautions to remain safe in the heat, especially children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses.

Also, stay in a cool place, drink plenty of water, and avoid exercising or working outdoors in possible.

It is also important to be aware of the symptoms of heatstroke or heat exhaustion including but not limited to confusion, dizziness, nausea, headache, weakness, vomiting, fainting, excessive sweating, seizure, and more.

If you display these symptoms and/or think your health may be at risk, please call 911. Heat stroke can be fatal.
