New COVID case at McMaster University

McMaster University A McMaster University student who was on campus last week has tested positive for COVID-19.

A McMaster University student has tested positive for COVID-19. They were last on campus on Sept. 24, where they spent time in the psychology building.

The student followed necessary COVID-19 protocols while on campus and the psychology building has been cleaned thoroughly since the visit.

This is the third case reported at the university, one involving a staff member on Sept. 12 and the other involving a graduate student on Aug. 31.

Contact tracing by public health authorities is being used to identify those who may have come in contact with the individual or in the areas in which the employee visited while on campus.

When the university is notified that someone is awaiting test results and has been on campus, the areas where the person had been on campus in the past 72 hours are cleaned thoroughly.

Students, faculty or staff must complete a COVID-19 screening tool within one hour of arrival on campus. Additionally, all employees and students attending campus must complete a mandatory online module found on McMaster’s Mosaic portal.

Additionally, when the university is notified that someone is awaiting test results and has been on campus, the areas where the person had been on campus in the past 72 hours are cleaned thoroughly.

McMaster encourages anyone who is feeling ill to not attend university grounds. Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and has visited the campus is asked to contact the university.
