As Canada reports its 10,001st COVID-19 death today, Ontario is reporting 834 new COVID-19 cases today, a slight increase from yesterday’s report of 827 cases.
Of those 10,001 deaths across Canada, 3,108 deaths were in Ontario. In Niagara, 69 people have died from the coronavirus. There were five new COVID deaths reported today in Ontario today. There was one new death reported in the Niagara Region today for the first time since Oct. 19.
“Ontario is reporting 834 cases of #COVID19. Locally, there are 299 new cases in Toronto, 186 in Peel, 121 in York Region and 76 in Ottawa. There are 773 more resolved cases and over 30,000 tests completed,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.
Niagara Region reports 12 new COVID-19 cases today, an increase from yesterday’s reports of seven.
Public health units in Ontario also reporting higher cases numbers include the Durham Region with 26 new cases, Halton Region with 23 new cases, and Hamilton with seven cases. All other public health units reported 25 cases or less.
The Niagara Region reported 12 cases today and seven new cases yesterday. Lately, cases have ranged from five to 15 over the last few weeks. On Sunday, 23 new cases were reported.
312 cases in Ontario hospitals
Ontario has now had 72,885 total cases, with 62,303 cases resolved. There are currently 312 cases in hospitals, the highest number of daily hospitalized cases since June 20, with 71 in intensive care and 51 on ventilators.
Ontario continues to see a rise in COVID-19 cases in hospitals. Hospitalized cases remained the same from yesterday, the number of those on ventilators decreased by four and the number of those in intensive care decreased by one since yesterday.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region is now at 1,370 with 1,206 resolved. Of those cases, there are 95 active cases, decreasing by seven since yesterday and eight active outbreaks.
