On September 23rd, 2022, at 11:01pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to a report of shots fired on Tasker Street between Davidson Street and Cross Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
Upon arrival officers located a male and female victim. Neither were suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigation has determined the victims were approached by two suspects when a physical alteration took place. The male victim sustained a minor laceration after having been struck in the head with an unknown object. The female victim sustained no physical injuries. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics attended the scene, however both victims declined to be assessed at hospital.
Detectives assigned to the 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. It has been confirmed a firearm was discharged in the direction of the victims as the suspects fled the area. No persons are believed to have been struck.
Detectives are searching for two suspects and a suspect vehicle, described as follows:
– 5’10” tall
– Slim build
– Carrying a satchel (possibly made by Gucci)
– Black or Indigenous
– 5’10” tall
– Black hair
– Heavy build
– Wearing a black track suit
– Four door sedan (possibly a Chevrolet Impala)
– Older model (believed to be 10 or more years old)
– Navy blue in colour
– Loud muffler
This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no known threat to public safety.
Residents/businesses in the area with CCTV footage that captures Tasker Street between Davidson Street and Cross Street, and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash camera, are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1008916
