The Happy Baby store on Grimsby’s main drag is closing after five years of doing business. Like many local small businesses, owner Mary Jo Clements was faced with a tough decision to close her doors due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.
“When 2020 started, I had big plans for The Happy Baby. We were doing a renovation, getting in new brands…Then Covid happened,” Clements wrote on The Happy Baby Facebook page.
Clements said she had to make a tough decision whether it was worth making changes required to reopen. She decided it would cost more to stay operational post-shutdown than if she shuttered it.
Clements has yet to set an official closing date for the store, but said it will likely be by end of summer 2020. Until it does, it will be selling off the current inventory at discount prices.
