Investigation into the Distribution of Fentanyl in Niagara Falls Results in Arrest

In January 2023, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) street crime detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) commenced an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the City of Niagara Falls.

During the evening hours on January 18th, 2023, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a search warrant inside a motel room located in the area of Lundy’s Lane near Montrose Road, in the City of Niagara Falls.  As a result of the investigation one individual was arrested.  In total, detectives recovered 18.6 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated value of $2,000.

Todd Walter PETKOVICH (59 years) of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

• Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking

• Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts)

PETKOVICH was released on a Form 10 Undertaking.  He is scheduled to attend court on March 23rd, 2023, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
