Parents of students at Lakeview Public School in Grimsby have been advised that a COVID-19 case has been detected at the school.

In a letter emailed to parents Tuesday, school principal Bob Blake said: “I wanted to let you know that Niagara Region Public Health (NRPH) has advised us that an individual at Lakeview Public School has tested positive for COVID-19.”

The person is not being identified. The school cited “privacy reasons”. As a policy, the District School of Niagara and its schools do not share the name or role, either student or staff, of individuals that test positive for COVID-19.

Blake said Niagara Regional Public Health has assessed the situation, and all staff and students who are required to self-isolate, have been notified.

“If you have not received this email notice issued by NRPH identifying your child’s class then your child does not need to self isolate,” Blake wrote.
