On July 31, 2022, at approximately 3:01am 2 District – Niagara Falls uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the city of Niagara Falls.
Officers arrived on scene and met with the male driver of a white BMW. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics.
The initial investigation determined that the white BMW had been stopped for a traffic signal at the intersection of Lundy’s Lane at Kalar Road. The BMW was suddenly rear ended by a silver Mercedes. The Mercedes drove around the BMW and struck a stone wall before coming to a stop. The male driver and two females were seen running from the car.
Responding officers began searching the area. A NRPS K9 Unit with Police Service Dog (PSD) Maverick attended the area and began a track for the driver. At 3:30am, officers located and arrested the driver as he ran from a Pitton Road backyard away from PSD Maverick. A search of the suspect following his arrest located a loaded black Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol hidden under his sweater.
Allan Kenroy Mason (29 years) of Hannon Ontario, has been arrested and charged with the offences of:
Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition Possession of a Prohibited Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized Carrying a Concealed Weapon Carry Firearm in a Careless Manner Impaired Operation – Exceed Blood Alcohol Concentration
Mason was held in custody for a video bail hearing to be held on August 1, 2022.
