On June 21, 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the Central Fraud Unit (CFU) obtained photographs of a suspect wanted in connection with a fraud investigation where an elderly complainant was deceived into believing her grandson had been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and was in immediate need of assistance in order to be released from custody.
Eight additional elderly complainants have come forward since the publication of the original media release. Detectives have linked the original suspect to each of these on-going fraud investigations.
New images have been obtained and detectives continue to appeal to members of the public for assistance identifying the suspect, described as follows:
– 35 to 45 years
– Black hair in a bun
– Wearing a white sleeveless blouse
– Wearing black pants
– Wearing black sandals
– Carrying a beige purse
– Tattoo on left wrist
The suspect is believed to be travelling in a blue/grey 4-door vehicle.
