Niagara Region Public Health confirmed seven new COVID-19 cases over the weekend and 0 cases today.

The total number of confirmed cases is now at 916. There are 35 active cases and four active outbreaks in the region. There have be no new COVID-19 related deaths reported this week.

During last week, 30 new cases were reported, as did the week prior to that. Daily cases numbers in those weeks ranged from 0-21.

This past week, the region saw a ten case decrease from the previous weeks. Daily case numbers also remained fairly low, with each day reporting five cases or less.

Province wide in Ontario, there were 187 cases reported over the weekend, 106 on Saturday and 81 on Sunday. There are 99 new cases reported as of today (Aug 17).

Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliot shared in a tweet that 29 of 34 public health units reported five or few cases, with 21 reporting no new cases.

There was one new death reported on Saturday in Ontario, and no new deaths reported on Sunday or today.
