Suspect Arrested After Attempting To Sell Stolen Items Online – Niagara Falls

On September 27th, 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) became aware of a theft that occurred during the overnight hours on September 22nd, 2022.

The complainant indicated items (primarily tools) had been stolen from a motor vehicle that was parked in the area of Barker Street near Drummond Road, in the City of Niagara Falls.  When the complainant noticed the same items that had been stolen were being sold on Facebook Marketplace, they contacted police for assistance.

Detectives assigned to the 2 District Street Crime Unit assumed carriage of the investigation and contacted the seller, who advised the items were still for sale.  When the seller arrived at a predetermined location with the stolen items in hand, he was arrested by undercover officers.  Detectives have since returned the items to the complainant.

Archer KARR (44 years) of Niagara Falls has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Traffic in property obtained by crime not exceeding $5000.00

• Possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5000.00

• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5000.00

Detectives have also recovered a men’s bicycle that was in the possession of KARR.  The bicycle is a Giant Revolt and is believed to be stolen property.  As the bicycle has significant identifiable markings, a photograph is not being released, as the markings may be used to confirm ownership if proof of purchase is not available.  The owner of the bicycle is encouraged to contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009943.

KARR was held for a bail hearing that took place on September 28th, 2022, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.  KARR has been remanded into custody and will re-appear in bail court on October 4th, 2022.
