Two Arrested in Relation to Human Trafficking Charges

On June 18th, 2024, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended a hotel in Niagara Falls in relation to a human trafficking call.

As a result, a human trafficking investigation commenced.

The investigation led to two people being arrested and two victims being identified.

Lomar BROWN (26 years) of Markham, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code charges:

• Trafficking in persons under 18 years of age

• Advertising another person’s sexual services

• Procuring person under 18 years of age

• Financial benefit from trafficking person under 18 years of age

• Material benefit from sexual services provided by person under 18 years of age

• Possess proceeds obtained by crime under $5000.00

• Trafficking in person’s by exercising control

• Procuring

• Forcible confinement

A 16 year old female from Wasaga Beach, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Trafficking in person’s by exercising control

• Procuring

• Forcible confinement

Both accused are being held in custody pending a video bail hearing, which is expected to take place on June 18th,2024, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines. 

The Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada prohibits the Niagara Region Police Service from releasing the identity of the accused young persons in this matter.
