Two Male Youths Arrested for Violent Incidents in St. Catharines

In July of 2022 detectives from the 1 District – St. Catharines detective office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) began an investigation into the armed robbery (2022-75934) of a car in St. Catharines.

The investigation determined that the victim had been seated in their parked Nissan Rogue in a parking lot in the area of Welland Avenue and Bunting Road.  A male suspect approached the victim, pointed a firearm, and demanded the car.  The suspect fled the area in the car and picked up a second suspect a short distance away. The car was recovered abandoned not long after this incident.   The adult male victim was not physically injured.

On August 17, 2022, 1 District detectives began investigating a stabbing incident (2022-92722) that occurred at Pearson Park on Niagara Street in St. Catharines.  The adult male victim was stabbed and suffered serious injuries.   The suspects and victim were known to each other. The victim has since been released from hospital.

The ongoing investigations by detectives developed grounds to believe that the same two male suspects were responsible for both incidents.

On August 19, 2022, detectives located and arrested the two youth males.
