Queenston Street Robbery Under Investigation in St. Catharines – UPDATE #1

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) Criminal Investigative Branch continue to investigate a July 17th, 2023, robbery that occurred on Queenston Street near Oakdale Avenue, in the City of St. Catharines.

The initial investigation determined that the victim had been approached by an unknown male suspect.  The suspect verbally threatened the victim and demanded his belongings. No weapon was seen.  The suspect fled the area on the victim’s BMX bike with the victim’s iPhone and t-shirt.

On August 17th, 2023, images of the suspect were released with an appeal for members of the public to assist with his identity.

On September 6th, 2023, Dario Thomas ANGELO (28 years) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

ANGELO was held for a bail hearing that took place on September 7th, 2023, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.  He remains in the custody of Ontario Correctional Services at this time.

Detectives would like to thank members of the public who provided information that assisted in this investigation.  As an arrest has been made, images of the suspect have been removed from NRPS social media accounts.
