NRPS Detectives Investigating St. Paul Street Patio Assault – St. Catharines – UPDATE #2

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) Criminal Investigative Branch continue to investigate a July 10th, 2023, assault that occurred on the patio of a restaurant located on St. Paul Street between James Street and Garden Park, in the City of St. Catharines.

On August 2nd, 2023, images of the suspect were released with an appeal for members of the public to assist with his identity.

On August 24th, 2023, images of three potential witnesses who were believed to have information related to the assault were released with an appeal for members of the public to assist with their identity.

On September 9th, 2023, Craig Donald CLEMENT (38 years) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with one count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm, contrary to section 267(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

CLEMENT remains in police custody at this time.  He is being held for a bail hearing scheduled to take place later today (September 10th, 2023) via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives would like to thank members of the public who provided information that assisted in this investigation.  As an arrest has been made, the suspect and witnesses images have been removed from NRPS social media accounts.
