Suspect In Custody After Disturbance on Strohan Street – Niagara Falls

On September 11th, 2023, at 12:38pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded to a disturbance at a residential address on Strohan Street near Johnson Drive, in the City of Niagara Falls.

Information provided to the NRPS Communications Unit was that a male was seen in the area yelling obscenities while threatening to burn down a nearby home.  Responding officers were unable to locate the male, resulting in multiple police units searching the nearby area.  As the search was underway, information was received that the male was in possession of a firearm.  Given the threat of a firearm being involved the NRPS Emergency Task Unit (ETU) was notified and responded.  Victoria Public School was placed in a hold and secure as officers searched for the male.

At 2:41pm ETU officers located the male in a backyard.  He was subsequently arrested.  The firearm was determined to have been a pellet gun.  The hold and secure at Victoria Park School was lifted and students were dismissed as usual.  The NRPS would like to thank the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) for their cooperation.
